BACKGROUND

Vehicle Overview

The early Ford Bronco was conceived as a compact, versatile four-wheel-drive vehicle—smaller and more maneuverable than full-size trucks, but more capable than many of its contemporaries. Its short wheelbase and simple construction made it well suited for trail use, exploration, and recreational driving, while still remaining approachable and adaptable.

This example reflects that original intent, updated to better suit modern off-road expectations. Rather than preserving the Bronco as a period-correct artifact, it has been reworked into a capable and cohesive off-road vehicle that remains true to the platform’s lightweight, go-anywhere character.

What Makes The Car

Power comes from a 302ci V8 paired with a TR4050 four-speed manual transmission, a combination well suited to the Bronco’s size and intended use. An Atlas transfer case provides a wide range of gearing options, improving control at low speeds and reinforcing the vehicle’s focus on deliberate, technical off-road driving rather than momentum-based approaches.

A long-travel four-link suspension setup allows the chassis to remain composed over uneven terrain, improving articulation and ride quality while maintaining predictable handling. The vehicle runs on 37-inch tires, increasing ground clearance and obstacle capability without compromising the Bronco’s compact proportions. Recovery equipment and exterior components are clearly functional in nature, underscoring that the modifications prioritize usability and trail performance over appearance.

DRIVING

How The Car Preforms

The Bronco feels lively and engaging from the driver’s seat. Its shorter wheelbase and responsive chassis make it easy to place on the trail, while the suspension allows it to absorb terrain without feeling unsettled. There’s an immediacy to how it responds, encouraging confidence and curiosity rather than caution.

It’s an enjoyable vehicle to drive not because it masks the environment, but because it works with it. The experience is relaxed and rewarding, offering capability without intimidation and making off-road driving feel intuitive rather than demanding.
