BACKGROUND

Vehicle Overview

The Pontiac Firebird was developed as Pontiac’s answer to the Mustang, sharing its underlying F-body platform with the Chevrolet Camaro while offering distinct styling and drivetrain options. Although the two cars shared a common chassis, Pontiac positioned the Firebird with its own identity, engines, and performance character.

This 1968 Firebird has been built with track use in mind while retaining the core feel of the original platform. A full roll cage adds both safety and chassis rigidity, while the drivetrain and suspension have been configured to support consistent, repeatable performance.

What Makes The Car

Power comes from a BluePrint 400ci V8, chosen for its balance of strong torque delivery and long-term reliability. Supporting upgrades, including an improved cooling system, ensure the engine can handle extended spirited driving without overheating or fatigue.

The suspension setup focuses on adjustability and control. Viking double-adjustable rear shocks allow fine tuning of compression and rebound, while QA1 single-adjustable front coilovers provide a solid balance between responsiveness and compliance. Subframe connectors tie the chassis together, reducing flex and improving predictability under load.

DRIVING

How The Car Preforms

The Firebird delivers a strong, usable midrange that makes it easy to drive quickly without feeling temperamental. Throttle response is smooth and predictable, allowing the driver to focus on line choice and consistency rather than managing sudden power spikes.

With adjustable suspension and a reinforced chassis, the car feels planted and composed through corners. Turn-in is confident, body control is well managed, and the setup remains forgiving enough for longer drives, making the car equally enjoyable on the street or during more aggressive sessions.
